The power of "States" in Blend 3
The "states" feature in Blend 3 has had some pretty significant enhancements made to it, so significant that I believe it will change the way you build your apps.
I've recorded a 40 minute video of how I envision using states in the new Blend 3 / Silverlight 3 world. I'm not saying that this is the only way to use them, just that this is how I've learnt to be productive with them. All the projects I work on I try to use states in this way.
The video will walk you through 3 new killer "State" enhancements :
- Draw into state
- Custom transition durations per state & custom easing animation per state
- Fluid layout
as well as show you what I call a "State First" approach to creating your UI's. I need to stress that this is just my own personal approach, it allows me to be very productive and it falls inline with my design philosophy of "Visual Design" over “Design through code”.
